The light

Aug 28, 2021

The light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the Face of Christ Jesus.

That's what God says He reveals to us (2Corinthians 4:6).

I love cultures. Paul, too. In his concise statement, he includes all the cultures of his day. He starts with light.

The light. Light, as opposed to darkness. Trailblazing light.

Light was the quest of the Jews. They opposed it to darkness, or evil. Light is one of the main attributes of God in the Old Testament. Even today, the Jews light candles for Hanukkah, the “festival of lights.”

When you go through dark times, light is hope. I am not saying this lightly, dear one. Jesus is light.

It means two things:

One, in Him there is no darkness. No hidden agenda. No manipulation. No conditions. No backstabbing. No self-seeking. No pride. No arrogance. No shame. No fear. No darkness.

Two, He offers to light our path (Psalm 119:105). When I don't know what to do; when I don't know who I am; when I don't understand the wickedness of my heart and the depth of my longings; when I feel so alone, and desperate, and clueless. He is my Light.

And He is enough.
