Easter: our faith is grounded in reason AND in miracles! And Covid-19 will NOT change that.

Aug 28, 2021

What would make Easter special to you this year?

We're going without the large family gatherings and face-to-face church celebrations. This will, in so many ways, be an Easter to remember.

What if we met Christ this Easter? Like, actually experienced His gift to us in new, deeper ways?

What if we chose to make it more than the memorable "Covid-19, online Easter"? What if we actually encountered the risen Christ?

This question drove me to record this week's episode of Gospel Spice.  I hope it will bless you--not because I made it, but because God is good.

May it draw you into intimate worship and reverent awe.

Only a faith grounded in reason and in miracles both, can sustain the test of life. Jesus alone provides a sturdy foundation for this kind of faith.

Here's what's in it for you this week:

This week we plunge into Good Friday. It's a double-length episode, because, well, it's the most momentous topic in the universe. Our prayer is that this episode will come alongside you as you ponder Easter, and will offer you unique glimpses into this most marvelous of mysteries to draw you deeper into awe and worship! We publish it long enough before Easter, to give you time to listen to it all!

Here are some of the topics we cover today:

Why was it necessary in the first place? Couldn't God just forgive us all? Heal us from our spiritual leprosy, like He did the leper through a messianic miracle we discovered many weeks ago (Episodes 4 & 5, Season 1)? What about the control freaks among us? How do we embrace this surrender that Jesus proclaims for us? How about the "prayer of weakness"--Lord, I am willing to be made willing!

We're looking at the darkness; the earthquake; the curtain of the Temple.

Jesus died on the cross for our sins. But it was not enough to kill the lamb at Passover before leaving Egypt: its blood had to be applied on the doorposts to guarantee life. Similarly, we need to apply the blood of the Lamb to the door of our heart through faith, in order to receive eternal life. It's a matter of personal choice: the lamb is killed for all; but the blood needs to be applied, to be effective in your own personal life.

As Paul tells us, if Jesus did not rise from the tomb in bodily form, then our faith is in vain and we are to be pitied more than anyone. So, it all hinges on the fact of the resurrection. How can we know, that we know, that we know that Jesus rose from the dead, and that we too will experience eternal life?

That is my story. I was confronted with evidence that seemed to indicate the factual truth of the resurrection, which was, to say the least, quite an inconvenience to this stubborn but truth-seeking atheist. We're looking at the evidence for the resurrection today.
