What is Shades of Red?

Being "shades of red" means we, humans, all share a common origin and a unified image, created in the likeness of God. Contrary to a perspective focusing on racial, social, or gender differences that lead to division, this series encourages embracing our differences from a place of unity and love. We view humanity through a lens of unity rather than division, because, in God's original plan, distinctions were meant to enhance unity, not create inequalities.

The Bible study invites us to examine unity within diversity, starting from the creation of mankind. We will look at the significance of God's creation process: humans were uniquely formed from the dust of the ground. This implies a unified origin and the equal value of every human being. The Hebrew word "Adam" signifies humanity, derived from "adamah," meaning ground or dirt, emphasizing our shared beginning and intrinsic worth.

Shades of Red hopes to equip us with theological insights enriched by real-life biblical narratives, to foster informed, prayerful, and active participation in remedying the world’s injustices. This unity within diversity, rooted in theological principles, forms the backbone of the curriculum, challenging us to leverage our God-given freedom, and to work towards uplifting and unifying all humanity.
